Our Business volunteers are so important to us and they really make a huge difference to the experiences that we deliver. Some of the children we work with haven’t met adults from different career backgrounds, so you will act as an extremely positive role model for our children.
Whether someone volunteers regularly or just once or twice a year, they will be a fantastic mentor for our children and assist them in their learning.
There are opportunities to volunteer for a full day, half a day or overnight on a weekend. During term time we have an average of 3 experiences taking place every week, so there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Volunteering for a good cause will make your staff feel great and will also be a fantastic opportunity for professional development.
Interested in signing your staff or colleagues up for volunteering? Here are the simple steps you need to take:
- Mentor Registration – Ask each member of staff to fill out the Mentor Registration Form. You can download it here.
- Training Session – Decide if you would like an in-house training session or if you would like to send staff on one of our mentor training sessions at the University. We recommend that if you have 5 or more staff interested then we come along to train them at your business. Training takes a maximum of 1 hour.
- DBS Check – If your staff already have had a recent DBS check then we need to see their certificates. If they require a DBS check then Hull Children’s University will arrange this for you.
- Choose a volunteering opportunity – Our administrator will send out opportunities via email either to every registered staff member or to a nominated individual to distribute. Staff can then choose which opportunities they would like to sign up for.
