Hilary Rennard

When I worked at the University I was approached in the mid-nineties to support at Frances Askew school for the Children’s University.
At the time I had three children at home and helped support my mum but always thought if the charity was still active when I retire I would volunteer.
I knew I wanted to give back in retirement.
I get a great deal of satisfaction supporting on experiences. I engage with children well and am helpful to the lead tutor so it’s a win win situation for me.
I enjoy all of the experiences I register for though one of my favourites is Trawling of Hull as I feel it very important children are aware of Hull’s fishing heritage.
It’s always interesting if the school children are from a Hessle Road school as they often have some knowledge from their grandparents.
