Join our team! – Learning Experience Coordinator Children Looked After

Part Time: 3-year fixed term contract with potential to extend. 22.5 hours, 3 days a week Tuesday to Thursday

Salary: £18,600 p/a

Hull and East Yorkshire (HEY) Children’s University is a local children’s charity that aims to raise the aspirations, confidence and engagement of children looked after (living in foster care) by providing experiences that they otherwise wouldn't have. 

We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead our unique learning experiences during the holidays and half terms. You will be energetic, adaptable and driven to improve the lives of children looked after from Hull and the East Riding.

In your role as Learning Experience Coordinator, you will find that no two days are the same. Whether it is taking a group to Forest School for a day of outdoor learning or visiting London for a tour of the capital.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

·       The delivery of learning experiences during school holidays

·       The planning of these experiences including booking coaches, tickets, and train travel

·       The planning of itineraries

·       Completing focused risk assessments

·       Visiting carers and completing in-depth referrals

·       Organising volunteers

·       Volunteer training and monitoring

·       Evaluating the programme

·       Report writing for funders

·       Managing budgets and spending

About you:

You will be an enthusiastic and confident person with excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with the children that we work with. Being warm, friendly and approachable is key to this role. You will need to be organised, be able to work to deadlines and be comfortable working within an established team.

The following skills are essential:

·       A full clean driving license and access to own car

·       Experience working with primary age children

·       A good knowledge of children looked after and the barriers they may face

·       A strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and legislation

·       Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

The following skills are desirable:

·       A good knowledge of the charity sector

·       Experience working within a school or social care environment

·       Experience working with children looked after

·       Experience of planning and leading trips/excursions

·       Knowledge of Attachment Disorder

·       Good knowledge of children with SEND
