October Half Term Fun

The CLA Programme primary children had a busy and fun-filled half-term. The first experience was to the historical city of York. The children had a tour of the city walls, learnt about historic figures and architecture. They finished the day at York Chocolate Story where they made their own chocolate truffles!

Makerspace was our second experience, this creative space encourages the children to think outside of the box and challenges them to use a range of art and craft techniques. The children were given the task of designing and creating a spooky Halloween swamp. They used different skills to create textures and colours and even used resin to make their swamp.

Brick Box and Cook Stars were our next stop. Children spent the morning learning how to create challenging Halloween masks with Lego pieces. They had to be patient and resilient when following the instructions and created some detailed work. The afternoon was spent with Cook Stars learning how to make their own pizza and Halloween cookies using measuring and weighing skills.

Lastly, we rounded off the week at Humber Forest School. This space encourages the children to play and explore nature whilst having the freedom to make and create. They learnt how to safely start a fire and how to whittle and carve patterns into wood. They built dens and made bird feeders. The mud kitchen was very popular and they even made campfire doughnuts!
